Dear Member
One of the benefits of belonging to a club affiliated to UKA is the insurance cover which is provided by them both for the club and its members. Although, thankfully, rarely needed, a claim for public liability against an individual could amount to a considerable sum of money. However, we feel it is important to point out that this insurance applies only when training with the club or acting for the club. This is particularly relevant at this time when some members are considering continuing to run from SMCC following the change of headquarters. Details of the cover provided by UKA insurance can be found at http://www.britishathletics.org.uk/governance/insurance/ The specific paragraphs which apply are under General notes in the athlete policy and the club policy, "There is no cover provided to non-affiliated clubs, organisations, individual athletes or groups of athletes acting independently of their club." "There is no cover provided when athletes are training independently of their club (e.g. out for a run at night on their own causing injury to a member of the public)." If you have any questions with regard to this please do not hesitate to contact a committee member or UKA at [email protected] Regards, Barbara Bayliss, On behalf of the Swinton Runing Club Committee Committee Bank Holiday Monday, so sorry there are no sessions at either the Club or the Track
There will be sessions from both the Club and Track.
This will be the last time that Swinton Running Club runs from Swinton Moorside Cricket Club on a Monday evening, before we move to our new headquarters at Swinton Football Club on April 3rd. Dear member,
We are aware that some of you have received an email from SMCC encouraging you to continue to run from there on payment of £50 a year. We do not know who has passed on your email addresses to SMCC. Members are of course at liberty to take up the offer and not attend club sessions;to date only one member has informed us that that is their intention. As you will know, we already have members who are unable to attend club sessions regularly but who appreciate the benefits of membership of an affiliated club. However, not attending club sessions has the disadvantage of not being fully involved in the activities of the club and denies you access to coaching and the experience of your fellow members. Swinton Running club is moving to its new headquarters on 3rd April as planned. We will only have one base and that will be at SFC not SMCC. Those choosing to run from SMCC will be considered the same as those who choose to run from home or elsewhere, not as an offshoot of Swinton Running Club. Please do not hesitate to discuss any questions you may have in relation to this or the move with any of the committee members. Yours sincerely. Barbara Bayliss, On behalf of SRC Committee Monday 18th March 2013 - No track session tonight, Hill session from the Club.
Tonights session will be Priestley Road - Long - 4 or 5 reps. New Club Location page updated - remember we are moving to Swinton Football Club from Wednesday 3rd April 2013
Dear Member,
Following our meeting with SFC last night, we can confirm that the move to our new headquarters at Barton Road will be on Wednesday 3rd April 2013. We feel very positive about the move and the security it provides to the future of Swinton Running Club. We will contact you again with more details in the next few days. Please do not hesitate to speak to any of the committee members about any queries or concerns you may have. Regards, Barbara Bayliss, On behalf of the committee members of Swinton Running Club Dear member, We received a statement and proposal for fees from SMCC on Monday 25th February, with a deadline for reply by 2nd March, which we have declined.(see attached) The proposal was that we pay £3000 plus a guarantee to hold four social functions a year, one of which must be a weekend evening function; failure to hold a function would mean we would be expected to pay them £150 per function, potentially a total fee of £3600 for the year plus payment for calor gas. As we are not in a position to guarantee to hold functions that would also be profitable to Swinton Running Club, we would be in the same position financially as per the proposals that were voted on at the AGM. We therefore believe it is in the best interests of Swinton Running Club to ensure our own financial security and proceed with the move to Swinton FC. We will continue to keep you updated on any progress with the move. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact any of the committee members, Yours sincerely, Barbara Bayliss On behalf of the Committee members of Swinton Running Club Copy of the letter presented to Swinton Running Club from Swinton Moorside Cricket Club
