NEWS
Dear members,
The results of the ballot at the AGM showed 71% in favour of moving to Swinton Football Club. The breakdown of the votes are as follows : Online voting A - 6 B - 2 C- 9 Vote in person A- 11 B- 0 C - 38 Total vote 66 A- 17 B- 2 C - 47 This gives us a clear mandate to progress with the move to Swinton Football Club on 1st April 2013. The committee have informed SMCC who responded with a reduction in fees from £4000 to £3600; as this would not alter the need to increase members fees, and therefore would not change the vote, the offer was rejected. We are aware that some members have been informed directly by a member of SMCC that they are prepared to offer a revised fee of £3600. We would like to clarify that we were not aware of this proposal at the time of the AGM. A fee of this amount would still require an increase in membership fees or subs in the amounts proposed at the AGM. On the basis of last years income, a figure of £3600 would still have been more than 90% of our income. This figure does not include the charge for Calor gas of £200. Negotiations commenced with SMCC in June 2012. They have consistently said that they want £4000 plus £200 for calor gas for the year 2013/14. They were due to have a meeting to discuss this again on 28/1/13 and then report back to us if they were prepared to make any changes. We did not hear from them so had to proceed with the AGM based on the figures above. If there are any objections to the outcome of the ballot members need to respond in writing within 7 days. If there is an issue which requires an EGM there needs to be a written request stating the purpose of the meeting which is signed by at least 10 members. A copy of the constitution is available on the website should members wish to refer to this. Regards, Barbara Bayliss on behalf of the committee.

Thanks for the result of the vote. While I accept the democratic outcome I feel that I would like more information before I make my own personal decision on whether to move and I know a number of other members feel the same. We heard a lot at the AGM about price and cost but as any economist would observe consumers make their decisions on value not just cost. Comments are closed.
